We’re excited to announce that on 11th June we will be joining Fare City, Clean Cities, Pedal Me and Wheels for Wellbeing in taking part in a Cleaner Air Market at Maltby Street Market in Southwark.

The aim of this UK-first is to demonstrate that a working market can viably decarbonise its complex supply chains, reduce its contribution to local air pollution, and create a more accessible, equitable and sustainable market experience for the benefit of traders, attendees and the local community. Collectively, we hope this will be a future model for public markets whereby goods, traders and infrastructure are brought to a markets using a combination of cargo bikes, cycles, and some electric vehicles.

There are over 100 permanent and periodic markets in London alone, and they are not only a place to buy or sample locally produced food or goods, but also a place to share news and ideas amongst our communities. This makes markets excellent places to help spread the word that cleaner air brings not only health and wellbeing benefits, but economic ones as well.

On Saturday 11th June, we will be at Maltby Street Market providing short presentations about air pollution, and some fun activities for families to help spread the message about the sources of pollution, and what we can all do to tackle it. Please come along and take our air pollution quiz to be in with a chance of winning a Micro scooter!
