School air pollution assemblies

Updated August 2025

We have written three air pollution assemblies, for Key Stages 1 to 3, to help inform the next generation about the impacts of air pollution.

The Key Stage 1 (KS1) assembly covers what happens when we breathe, the importance of breathing clean air and some of the sources of air pollution. It is intended as a gentle assembly or talk for Reception-age children and above.

The Key Stage 2 (KS2) assembly can also be adapted as a lesson or workshop and is a more in-depth look into what causes air pollution and what we can do about it.

The Key Stage 3 (KS3) assembly goes into further detail on the causes and sources of air pollution, and covers why it’s so important for teenagers to breathe clean air.
