Clean Air Day action

9th June 2026

Would you like your council to do more about air pollution? Do you want cleaner air on the school run, less woodsmoke in your neighbourhood and less traffic on your streets?

A graphic with a pale green background with the text "one email, one councillor, one step closer to clean air". There is a pink dashed line spreading across the image, ending in a paper aeroplane.

This year, for Clean Air Day on 18th June, we’re asking everyone to email their councillors, share information about air pollution with them, and invite them to our upcoming webinar with Global Action Plan to find out more about how they can clean up the air in their community. We’re also asking them to take part in Global Action Plan’s campaign to create Local Clean Air Champions. Will you join us?

Councillors can play a pivotal role in cleaning up the air in their local area. They can hold cabinet members to account, push for stronger action and lead by example to help shape the health and wellbeing of their community.

Join our volunteers across the country in sending our quick, pre-drafted email text to your councillors ahead of 18th June, Clean Air Day! And on the day itself, if you're taking part in any events, please use the #CleanAirDay hashtag on social media so that Global Action Plan can promote your activities.

If you want to go one step further, meeting your councillor in person at one of their regular surgeries is often the most effective way to ensure your concerns are heard and build a relationship. If you want to meet your councillor but aren’t sure what’s best to say, email Sharon, our Volunteer Co-ordinator, and she’ll be happy to have a quick chat or send you some tips!

Whether it’s by email or in person, starting a relationship with your councillor is really important for local change. Please join us and our volunteers this Clean Air Day by helping us engage with as many councillors as possible across the country!
