Updated wood burning flyer

12th January 2023

We originally launched our wood burning flyer in June 2021 on Clean Air Day. Since then, new data has been published on the amount of air pollution that wood burning produces, and so we felt it was time for an update.

Did you know that domestic wood burning in the UK produces more particulate matter than traffic?

And did you know that an Ecodesign wood burning stove is several hundred times more polluting than a gas boiler?

Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty’s 2022 air pollution report acknowledged the high amounts of air pollution domestic burning produces in the UK, and called for more action on air pollution both indoors and out.

If you would like to help us spread awareness of the dangers of wood burning, you can order some of our updated flyers here. Or download them from our Resources page. We have a digital version with hyperlinks for the statistics, or a print version if you’d like to get some printed yourselves.

Please get in touch if you’d like to join us to campaign on this issue; we have a network of wood burning campaigners across the UK.
