Thinking about installing a wood burning stove?

We've teamed up with researcher Dr Mathy Sannasi to bring you a short animation on what happens when wood or solid fuel is burnt in a stove or open fireplace.

Do you know the hidden cost of wood burning? Before you start burning or consider installing a stove, take two minutes to watch this.

The animation was inspired by Dr Sannasi’s research, which maps the wider landscape of indoor air quality science, including work on organisational strategic infrastructure, and will be presented at the British Academy of Management 2026 conference in September.

Produced by visual storytellers Nifty Fox Creative, the animation covers:  

The large amounts of invisible fine particle pollution that build up inside our homes and neighbourhoods when we burn.

The health impact of that pollution. It travels from your lungs into your bloodstream, reaching organs throughout your body, harming our health.

What we can do about it. If you care about your health, your kids', or your neighbours' - burn less, or not at all. The government also needs to support cleaner heating options to protect our health.
